Before anyone points out that it's a bit unlikely Superhero Girl would forget to take off her mask a second time, let me tell you a few of the things I've done in the past couple years. I have: shown up for birthday parties a day early, shown up for speaking engagements a day early, written down the completely wrong date for a speaking engagement, despite being reminded repeatedly of the correct date. Repeatedly while running errands I forget what errands I'm running and run completely different errands before returning home where I remember what the original errand is. And last Sunday, after careful discussion with my boyfriend over what kind of pizza I was going to order for our Superbowl party, I ordered the wrong pizza.
MIND LIKE A SIEVE. I HAS IT. And so does Superhero Girl.
And the weird thing is, nothing seems to help. I write stuff down, I leave things I'm supposed to remember pinned to our apartment door, NOTHING HELPS. I just forget. It's ... BEYOND annoying.
I have the same problem, and I use my phone to solve it. I set all kinds of alarms to remind me of things to do. 16:30 : do this, 22:55 : do that, etc...
ReplyDeleteThis is the future : I have a robot in my pocket, thinking in my place.
Almost makes me wish I'd upgraded to a smartphone so I could program it similarly for appointments. Ah well. Poor SHG. You have to wonder how many times she's forgotten that mask. =^-^=
ReplyDeleteSo she received a gov't grant for superheroing while retaining her anonymity? That's probably the most far-fetched thing in the strip!
ReplyDeleteOn very, very bad days, I have lost my glasses - only to discover that they're on my face. I completely understand Superhero Girl's woe.
ReplyDeleteI love it. And man, I can't count the times I've been watching a sitcom or movie and had somebody say "a real person would never make that mistake" about something that has happened to me.
ReplyDeletePANEL SIX!
ReplyDelete"Where are my glasses?!" "You are wearing them..."
ReplyDeleteI would say it IS totally realistic to anyone who ever wore glasses. I bet the mask is even lighter.
I have left an orange on the bathroom sink before for an entire day, and then searched the entire apartment and was unable to find my orange.
ReplyDeleteAt the end of the day my roommate came out of the bathroom holding my orange.
This is one example of my extreme forgetfulness, so I totally believe in Super Hero Girl's ability to forget that she is wearing her mask.
This strip is fantastic. LOVE! *subscribing* Nice work.
ReplyDeleteDid I mention that it rather reminds me of Scott Pilgrim, visual-wise?
I used to have that problem, but now I put reminders into my iPod Touch. It's saved me many an embarrassment.
ReplyDeleteNice job! ^_^ -ealperin

ReplyDeleteI have almost forgotten to take my glasses off when I went to bed a number of times in the last month. I totally believe she would forget to take her mask off.
ReplyDeleteI guess she'll have to pony-tail it up as her disguise. ;)
HAHA!!! I have it all figured out.
ReplyDeleteExhibit A: let me tell you a few of the things I've done in the past couple years.
Faith = Super Hero Girl
Sorry, Superhero Girl, but at this stage I don't think you can stop her from finding out your identity. Unless these interviews are significantly different from ones I'm familiar with, they'll already know your name, so you can either let this girl know who you are, or let her AND everyone who's interviewing you know who you are. Or break and run, in which case she can probably just ask the interviewer and find out your name.
ReplyDeleteNow, if you were SuperVILLAIN Girl, you could kill her and hide the body quickly, and then take off the mask and no one would be the wiser... Sometimes having morals is inconvenient, you know. ;)
