Superhero Girl 20

This particular strip is based on a true story. A coffee shop I was a regular at took exception to me not immediately buying something, and despite recognizing me as a regular, told me I was loitering. So I turned the snotty barista into a snotty comic strip character! Oooh, cartoonist revenge.

  1. I like that Skeptical Guy walked on her. And that'll learn that barista!

  2. How come "COFFEE" is spelled backwards?

  3. Because it's on the outside of a window. If you look at it from inside, it'd be reversed.

  6. There's another person irritating the girl with super-strength! These people are lucky Superhero Girl handles her temper better than I do. I don't think I'd be able to resist causing some non-permanent physical harm to that woman.

  7. Actually, he paid for her meal. So sure, he "walked" on her... but he didn't leave her hanging. Pretty decent for an arch-nemesis, if I do say so myself. ^^;;

  9. I really like this episode!

    Also, this may be a peculiar thing to comment on, but I really like your word balloons. They look like you're actually drawing them instead of using some program's prefab round shapes.

  13. Barry>> Because they ARE drawn! I like hand drawn bubbles. And I never learned to make 'em in Photoshop. ^_^

    Robert>> Yeah, he's a nice jerk. ;)

  14. Vincenzo >> Hah! Yes, you were. I regularly went sketching with friends at that particular coffee shop, and after that incident, convinced my friends to move our group to the Second Cup on Spring Garden. So basically that place lost a bunch of regular paying customers because they were rude.

  15. Be careful when insulting one's customers. You never know when one is a snarky cartoonist who will encourage her friends never to return and then satirize you so that you and your shop is infamous across the Internet. ;)

  16. Oh man. And that particular coffee shop closed, too. You single-handedly brought them down.

  17. well, this is exactly what you where going for I guess,, but i didnt have a problem with it the way it was... and now ill have to get usd to the change.. and move away from the screen than towards it to read..
    but thats only becuase im used to it. this format probably IS better.. and more atractive and clear that its a comic blog so id go for it.. but size wise, on my wise screen laptop, the smaller one is just as good. after all, they are small strips in a newspaper.. not massive ones made for screen.

  18. Wow, this layout is MUCH better. I like that the header is mostly text now so it's not competing with the actual strips.
