Dark and Gritty Keviiiiin! Well it IS all the rage yanno. I actually quite enjoyed drawing the Dark N Gritty part. The monster teeth were particularly fun. I am thinking he is a bit Doomsday (the thing that "killed" Superman crossed with an Uglydoll. :D
This is your best page yet! I'm so glad I read it.
ReplyDeleteI will consume all your works!
Dark and gritty Kevin is much more appealingly human than normal painfully-sunshiney Kevin. I'm thinking we should see more of him. ;)
ReplyDeleteVery nice!
ReplyDeleteKevin seems to have a different logo on his costume in every appearance. Have you zeroed in on a permanent one yet?
...Kevin can make it rain?
ReplyDeleteMy theory is that he rented a weather modifier. ;)
DeleteLove the pose and expression in the third panel. Speaking of Doomsday, you've seen this, right? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PlwDbSYicM
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the monster might have been what you get if you feed Domo-Kun after midnight. ;-)
ReplyDeleteAgreed with others that panel 3 rocks. Pity Kevin's such a weenie most of the time.
yes! Totally! Evil Domo-Kun.
DeleteAww, I love Frank Miller-style Grim 'n Gritty Kevin (he's probably the ultra-super-rare variant version...or would that be Electric Blue Back-From-The-Dead Kevin?). Also, I LOVE the monster's expression in panel 6. It makes the monster seem a lot more innocent and makes me wonder if Kevin was just picking on it or something (maybe this says something about what I think of Kevin...I dunno).
ReplyDeletePanel 3. <3
ReplyDeleteI like how SHG just puts on a domino mask with her street clothes and everything is super. Also, the monster is pretty neat.
ReplyDeleteReminds me a lot of an owlbear, actually. Sans beak of course.
ReplyDeletePudge the fish controls the weather.
ReplyDeleteand so does Storm.. AND Kevin... apparently.
and he love his peanut butter sandwiches :D
Deleteohhh so she's gonna get kevin to say hi to shaun ohhhh okay. anyhoos. i just love how the monster stops and looks at SHG at the same time as kevin :D
ReplyDeleteLove the picture of Kevin in the 3rd panel. Great composition and art there.
ReplyDeleteKevin seems very eager to please his sister, I bet he was planning on drawing that fight out for dramatics.
ReplyDeleteI certianly agree with the rest that the grim and gritty style is neat, personally I love how it got totally washed out by the appearance of SHG :)
Dang, that *was* pretty awesome. I guess that when your webcomic eventually becomes more about DRAMA AND ANGST than humor, it'll look pretty good. ;)
ReplyDeletePanel 3 is the bees knees
ReplyDeleteI love panel 5 and 6. SHG just pops in and Kevin and monster's faces go blank with surprise. Ha ha. And Kevin is such a cheeseball. :)
ReplyDeleteDoomsday? I was thinking Kingdok...
ReplyDeleteLong time reader and first time Commenter, have to say, while this whole strip is great, this gag always puts a smile on my face, great stuff!
ReplyDeletehaha.. i first thought he was really fighting some epic fight in the rain. haha =D
ReplyDeletePoor monster, thinking he really had a chance for three days. Also, yes, your dark n' gritty are very impressive.
